Nike Air Max 1 Essential – White, Mercury Grey & Gorge Green

Nike added a new shoe to its Essential collection. We are talking about the Nike Air Max 1 Essential – White & Mercury Grey & Gorge Green. And from this point on, we think this shoe is going to need a reprint because this shoe is already a classic. If you look at the very first Nike Air Max 1 edition, you see the bright red, white and grey on the same places and order as seen on this new pair. You only have to swap the red for George Green.

Nike Air Max Classic

A lot of people who were fan of the Nike Air Max One back in 1987 when they first released, are still fan. At the end of the ‘80’s there was an important youth culture in the Nederlands and other parts of the world. And they were big fans of the Nike AM1’s. In the Nederlands they’re called: ‘Gabbers’. This were bold or shaved young people wearing sweatsuits and bomberjackets and ofcourse Nike Air Max Ones. Without a pair of these shoes on your feet you were not a real gabber. They even had there own way to tie there Nike Air Max 1: they put the laces in there shoes on a special way.

Nike’s Essential collection contains only Nike AM1 looking very much like the classics from ’87. And because of this subculture we associated these shoes for a long time with this culture. But now this is over and the Essentials are making a real comback!
